California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) inspects every licensed center and home and publishes the results. Cubbycheck reloads that data nightly, with inspection reports crawled continuously and gives each daycare one page.
California cites on two levels. A Type A citation is an immediate risk to the health, safety or personal rights of children in care. A Type B citation is one that may become an immediate risk if not corrected, from records and postings to supervision and background checks. Type A maps to Critical; Type B maps to Minor, or Serious when the section cited bears on supervision, ratios, background checks or hazards. California publishes the type inside each inspection report, so a citation without classified severity shows as “Severity N/A”. The full mapping and the badge rule.
